Doug had undergone an essential heart bypass operation during the immediate days before his untimely death.
The Funeral Service was held at the Methodist Chapel, Wymeswold on 22nd May - the hymns were "I Vow to thee, my country" (Cecil Spring-Rice, 1859-1918) and "The King of love my Shepherd is" (Henry Williams Baker, 1821-77) - followed by cremation at Loughborough.
