MMARS Meetings are now held at THE EDGE CHILDREN´S and COMMUNITY CENTRE, DALBY ROAD, MELTON MOWBRAY (O.S. Sheet 129 - NGR SK750177) on the THIRD FRIDAY OF EACH MONTH (September to June inclusive) at 7.30 for 8.00pm and a booking has been made for all the above scheduled meetings. A sketch location map is available free from the Secretary for those not familiar with the area, and there is a FIND US set of instructions in PDF format in the E-Library of the Society website for downloading.

  • FRIDAY 16th SEPTEMBER 2011 — AGM the 53rd.

  • FRIDAY 21st OCTOBER 2011 — VIDEOS WINNING ON THE HILL - superb video of VHF NFD winning station in Rochester, NY, USA. (1995, 58 min)and GB4FUN AT GRESWOLD SCHOOL: the RSGB’s mobile shack visits a school in Solihull. Coordinator Carlos Eavis explains amateur radio and telecommunications to the pupils, making a fun lesson out of the classroom.

  • FRIDAY 18th NOVEMBER 2011 — BRING and BUY — Anything goes but at the end of the evening everything goes - home with you if you brought it and did not dispose of it!

  • FRIDAY 16th DECEMBER 2011 — CHRISTMAS MEETING — Raffle, and mini-talks by members present (if willing!) and buffet supper etc.

  • SATURDAY 17th DECEMBER 2011 — MMARS ANNUAL CHRISTMAS DINNER —THIS IS A PROVISIONAL ARRANGEMENT AND SUBJECT TO CONFIRMATION LATER

  • FRIDAY 20th JANUARY 2012 — USING YOUR PC - Tx Control / Digital Modes - talk by G3STG and G4LWB

  • FRIDAY 17th FEBRUARY 2012 — THE WORK OF THE LEICESTERSHIRE REPEATER GROUP - talk by G4AFJ

  • FRIDAY 16th MARCH 2012 - SDR (Software Defined Radio) - presentation and talk by G8EBM

  • FRIDAY 20th APRIL 2012 — SEARCH and RESCUE DOG TEAM (Leicestershire Fire Brigade) - talk and demonstration.

  • FRIDAY 18th MAY 2012 — ANNUAL CONSTRUCTION CONTEST - BRING ALONG YOUR PROJECT for judging by a panel appointed from your peers.

  • FRIDAY 15th JUNE 2012 — ANNUAL FOX HUNT
    G4RPS Memorial Trophy to the winner. NEW RULES ARE IN COURSE OF DISCUSSION

MMARS WEEKLY RADIO NETS - a way to keep in touch between scheduled Meetings:
  • EVERY MONDAY - 145.225 MHz at 20:00 CLOCK TIME
  • EVERY WEDNESDAY - 28.400 MHz at 20:30 CLOCK TIME
ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTIONS - following the recommendations of the Treasurer these remain at £2.00 per annum per member liable. (At the Annual General Meeting in September 1971, inter alia, non-wage-earners, students and pensioners were thereafter considered EXEMPT from paying subscriptions). As we rely upon membership subscriptions for the day to day running and administration of the Society and due to prompt and full payment have been able to avoid any increases for many years, would you please settle when convenient. The Equipment and other funding, including any accommodation fees, Annual BBQ expenses, miscellaneous expenses etc. come from a separate account sustained by the efforts of a hard-working group within the Society.
REMINDERS

  1. THE SUMMER MONTHS find us attending several local events and competing in radio "Field Day" contests using our superb portable equipment and mobile shack. Your support would be most welcome - it is YOUR equipment so come and help, use it and enjoy it!

  2. MMARS AGM 2012 (the 54th) will be held on FRIDAY 21st September 2012 and formal Notice will be despatched in August to all Members.

  3. Please remember radio amateurs are secondary users of 433.475MHz and that there is a prime user presence in our area.
