- WEDNESDAY 17th OCTOBER 2007 THE RSGB - What do they do for Amateur Radio? - What do you want them to do for us? - talk by Geoffrey A. Griffiths, G3STG.
- WEDNESDAY 21st NOVEMBER 2007 HYDROGEN BATTERIES - talk by Ray Pinchin, G6FDD. (This talk is subject to the speaker being able to bring along certain equipment - if he is unsuccessful one of our reserve speakers will be called upon).
- WEDNESDAY 19th DECEMBER 2007 CHRISTMAS MEETING - Society Raffle, G3MCK Contest Result, buffet supper etc.
- WEDNESDAY 16th JANUARY 2008 INTERNET LINKING and AMATEUR RADIO - talk and demonstration by Peter Treadwell, G7PCT.
- WEDNESDAY 20th FEBRUARY 2008 BRITISH WATERWAYS - an insight - talk by Helen Profitt, a Water Quality Scientist with British Waterways.
- WEDNESDAY 19th MARCH 2008 WINRADIO - PC-based radio systems - talk and demonstration by David A. Towers, G8SZX.
- WEDNESDAY 16th APRIL 2008 LINUX AND AMATEUR RADIO - Comparing Windows with Linux, how to overcome the differences and how to install Linux and run amateur radio software - talk by Ron Leath, G4ASE.
- WEDNESDAY 21st MAY 2008 ANNUAL CONSTRUCTION CONTEST - BRING ALONG YOUR PROJECT for judging by a panel appointed from your peers. G6KQP Trophy to the winner.
- WEDNESDAY 18th JUNE 2008 ANNUAL FOX HUNT - Shaun G6PGP (as previous winner ) is "the Fox" this year.
G4RPS Memorial Trophy to the winner.
MMARS WEEKLY RADIO NETS - a way to keep in touch between scheduled Meetings:
- EVERY MONDAY - 145.225 MHz at 2000 CLOCK TIME
- EVERY THURSDAY - 28.400 MHz at 2030 CLOCK TIME
ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTIONS - following the recommendations of the Treasurer these remain at £2.00 per annum per member liable. (At the Annual General Meeting in September 1971, inter alia, non-wage-earners, students and pensioners were thereafter considered EXEMPT from paying subscriptions). As we rely upon membership subscriptions for the day to day running and administration of the Society and due to prompt and full payment have been able to avoid any increases for many years, would you please settle when convenient. The Equipment and other funding, including any accommodationn fees, Annual BBQ expenses, miscellaneous expenses etc. comes from a separate account sustained by the efforts of a hard-working group within the Society.
MEETINGS
MMARS Meetings are now held at THE SOUTH MELTON COMMUNITY CENTRE, DALBY ROAD, MELTON MOWBRAY (O.S. Sheet 129 - NGR SK750177) at 7.30 for 8.00pm and a booking has been made for all the above scheduled meetings. A sketch location map is available free from the Secretary for those not familiar with the area. (The meeting place is different from all preceding seasons as a result of the declining state of the previous locus forcing us to vacate same).
IMPORTANT DIARY ITEMS
- LEICESTER AMATEUR RADIO SHOW 2008 - DATE and VENUE TO BE CONFIRMED BY LARS LATER - we will be fielding a considerable workforce as usual.
- WEDNESDAY 17th SEPTEMBER 2008 - MMARS (50th) AGM
