Coinciding with the SSB FIELD DAY 1st/2nd September 2007 John GØIJM celebrated his 60th birthday. To mark the occasion his wife Linda (G8VQM) together with Jan (wife of John G4YSP) prepared a magnificent spread to be taken alfresco immediately the Contest closed - and Jan showed her expertise once again by designing and making the special birthday cake.
As the autumnal gloom began to descend upon the Field Day site the surprise party commenced - some 16 members of the Society (including some new ones) being present.
175 contacts were made during the Contest - not a winning score but it was agreed that "a good time had been had by all".
